Junglee Jaanwar is an Indian Hindi-language film based on the novel Junglee-The Boy Who Stole the Elephant by Bilal Siddiqi, published in 2009. It was released on September 29, 2010. Mohit Suri has replaced Rajesh Jha as the director of Junglee Jaanwar this time after he stepped down from Karthik Calling Karthik (2010). The film's final shoot schedule took place last month. The story is about friendship, loyalty and how it all got jeopardized because of one betrayal. The story revolves around two friends Gautam and Rohan who are 13 years old. They are inseparable until one day Gautam has to listen to the bad news of his friend Rohan's disappearance. Rohan is kidnapped by human traffickers and taken to Bombay, where he is forced to work for them. Gautam frees him with the help of his father. The duo then go on a journey to recover Rohan who has been selling stolen/fake currency notes.The film was released on 29 September 2010 at multiple screens across India, it had an average opening of 30% in its first weekend with some theaters reporting as high as 50%. It ran for 80 days in theaters and climbed up the box office charts. It was declared a "Super Hit". It did average business overseas. All the songs are composed by Jaidev. Lyrics are penned by Sayeed Quadri, Kumaar and Sahir Ali Bagga. Anu Malik has reused one of his compositions from "Jab We Met" for this film titled "Tanha Tanha".The film has received an overwhelming response from the audience and the word of mouth has been extremely good. Reviews have rated it positively across most media publications in India with praises to Mohit Suri's direction, cinematography, music and performances of the actors Akshaye Khanna, Neha Sharma & Sharman Joshi. Junglee Jaanwar was released on DVD on 2012.The Music of the film was launched by one of the most prominent playback singers, Anu Malik on Thursday, 28 September 2010 at Star Screen Multiplex. The event included performances by Neha Sharma, Sharman Joshi and Adam Sandler, who also made a special appearance at the event to launch the music of the film. The music was well received mainly due to its blending of elements from Bollywood & Western styles with an inherently Indian style. Junglee Jaanwar was also well received by the audience.
